US History Tools150 Years after Civil War
2011 Marked 150 years since the start of the Civil War, the highest casualty war on American soil. The History Channel has created an interactive experience to remember the war. It includes information about battles, casualties, weapons and costs of the war for a nation that was only just finding its roots. This site has 150 different topics on specific issues, people, and places from the Civil War which people are free to explore. With interactive charts and graphs to depict the information, the impact the Civil War had on the new American Nation is easier to grasp. US History Timeline This scavenger hunt through US History prompts students to decide on which one of four events occurred during a given time period. When they choose the correct answer, there is information shared with students about the event to help them understand what happened at that event in that time and it's importance. The event's specific information and date is given to students, and they are also able to learn about the other events that are given if they are unsure of the correct choice. One of the most memorable aspects of Ancient Egypt is that of the Great Pyramids. These pyramids, however, were not built overnight. It took months and years of planning for each, and had to be completed by the time the Pharaoh died. If you had the opportunity to build a pyramid, how would you do it? This game allows the students to act as the royal vizier, making the decisions for building the Pharaoh's final resting place. They must weigh each option carefully in order to complete the tomb before their beloved leader passes on to the the afterlife. During this game, students will learn about religion, weather, and history in order to build the perfect tomb. World Religions This timeline shows the History of five of the oldest religions in the world that are still prominent to this day. The timeline stops at key points to share the births and deaths of key religious figures such as Abraham, Buddha, and Jesus. This video shows a 5000 year history of the religion of the world in less than 90 seconds including the Crusades, the birth of the state of Israel, and the death of Jesus. It's a quick view into how religion has been exposed to the world. |
